Balancing Dust Systems
Balancing a dust system correctly is essential for
environmental and operational reasons.
The amount of dust produced (dust load) influences the size of collector needed. A lower dust load might suggest a less collector work load, but particle size is important as well.
Smaller dust particles on the filter tend to cake together with smaller void spaces between. This increases the pressure needed to pull air through the layer of dust. If both of these factors aren’t considered, the system may consume more energy and require more frequent cleaning.
Trouble shooting for a system that doesn’t work properly is important as well. Problems can range from mechanisms that don’t work properly to bad air flow to collector and lines plugging.
